ok i just tryed apply pressure to the ram chips at the bottom of the board and at the top i am still gettgin 0020 error i left the board to over heat and see wht happens

i have a heatsink that aout 4.9 ounces can i use that to put ontop the gpu and cpu whn i am heating the boad from underneath

and if tht don't work would it be a good idea to put wieght on the northa dn south bridge and also the ram when i am heating

take off the heatsink off the gpu and over heat the gpu then turn off the system and put on the heatsink and then turn on the systme back and apply pressure to the top of the gpu??
could i do this with the motherboard out of the case

casue so far this is wht i have done i have put the heatsink on and pressed it down by hand and then turned on my system and i got the same 0020 error
i have also pressed each side of the gpu while the heatsink wazn;t on but i made sure i turned off the system to let the gpu cool so ti won;t get to hot

0020 is GPU related if I remember right, I just cant duplicate it right now for some reason. Using a heatsink on top of the chips is not a good idea in my opinion. I think that the reason that some peoples xbox worked for a short while doing the "old" method of using a heatgun on top of the board got the chips too hot. Sometimes so hot that it would make them useless.

Now introduce the way that ME and JAMESTRONIX do it is by bringing the heat to the bottom of the board. Also by adding the weight you are getting the best connection you can get. After you have the best connection you KEEP IT THERE by doing the Xclamp replacement. The reason I see the red lights happeneing is like others are saying is the center of the Xclamp pushes up on the GPU and CPU. By pushing up in the center of the chip, it causes the edges of the chip to lose connection little by little until you get the 3ROL. The Xclamp replacement removes the upward pushing force on the center of the chip thus getting rid of the 3ROL.

In my tests, if you just power on the xbox 360 and allow it to overheat to correct the 3ROL, it only does if for a short time (20 minutes to 4 days).

The heat gun is the best next to a reflow oven, due to the amount of heat,j and you are concentrating the heat on the problem areas. I have never used a reflow oven, but it makes sense.

If you get an error that the 4.4 ounce method that I use does not work, then I suggest that you apply the 4.4 ounces to the GPU, CPU, and SOUTHBRIDGE. This should correct pretty much any problem that you have. Just do not give the SOUTHBRIDGE too much love with the heat gun as you will damage it and it will be useless.

still getting 0020 error think i have tired

for every test i mount the board back into the metal casing but didn;t bolt it down

1-I have tired the 4.4 ounce weight and heated from the bottom and test out still got 0020 error i have tired apply diffrent amout of pressure from each bolt also ( my heatgun is not a very hot heatgun so i did it for 4 min longer but maybe i ave to do it even longer with my heatgun

2- i have tired take off the gpu heatsink count to 3 second and thn turn of ( i don;t want o blow my gpu processor casue i now that happen 2 cpu processors thy literally explode whn thy get 2 hot) thn put the heatsink on and press it down and i still got 0020 error

3- i have applied pressure to each side the cpu and 2 side of the gpu while keep pressure on the die and i still got 0020 to appl;y the pressure wht i did was ptu some small metal washer on each side the gpu and thn bolt it down same thing for the gpu but only 2 side the washer could of fit on becasue of all the transistors on the gpu
and 0020 error stil presisted

4- i have tired bending the board in middle and turn it one same error ( i had some help me for this casue i had to bend the board with my hand i bent the board up and downward and i got the same error)

5- i have tryed using shik on both gpu and cpu to apply more pressure than need i still get the same error

SOME THING I MIGHT TRY BUT JUST GIVE YR OPION ONE THM

6- i might put reheat the board with same 4.4 ounce weigt but do i for 5 min and also put a weight on the
south bridge but not exactly sure which one is the south bridge need some help there ( the south brigde is the the ship tht shiny in the middel and black on the outer sides)

7- i migth apply a heaver weight on the cpu and gpu i would say 5.5-6 ounces

8-if all tht fails do heatgun above and below the board for 12min 1st 10min just keep distance o vary intensity to get the board hot thn i start concentrating on the gpu and cpu and give a bit to north and south bridge ( just a question about this i have used the heatgun before on 2board and got thm working with 0102 error but i never used the tin foil on those boards should i use the tin foin on this board i have done heat gun to this board twice but only for 4 min and i use the tin foil on this board so shoudl i use the tin foil or not ??

i have applied about 4.5 oucne weight on gpu cpu and south bridge and the xbox still is getting 0020 error
so now i think ia m going to heatgun for 12min which i did some 1 elce bored for at it worked thn i completly mount it back in the case using rbj MK1 method and test if that fails

thn i think i am going to heat the board up and coem the cpu and gpu with foil thn aimt he heatugn under where the board meeat the processor leave it to so it cna get nice and hot thn apply a weight on the die of the gpu and cpu

i don;t want to brun the die tht y i am puttig the foil i hope i don;t brun the foil any wza i think the board is dead

there no on in my country that cna reflow but i am still checking aroud

this the 2nd xbox360 i con;t get working and both thm had 0020 error

just wondering i been think about doing this i dont have a very hot air gun so i think baout another one wht themepature would be good ?? i heard ppl say 400C but i think tht 2 hot so i just like 2 now a temperature range

also do u think that if i get a air gun and aim it under the gpu and the board on low so that the solder becomes soft enough to press back think that would work??

if not how much would u charge for checking out this think and how much is it to ship to the UK

I still have a 0002 and a 0110 xbox at my house, and I have yet to find a solution to them.  I also have a box that gives me 1 rlod with an error code of 71 or 79, depending on how it feels at the time.  All 3 boxes are driving me nuts.  Any new info on any of these?

I have yet to pick up a heat gun to try on the 0110 box.  The 0002 box doesn't even get power, the PSU goes green for a second, then goes back to orange.  I've tested the PSU on mine, it's fine, I've checked the mosfets, and they look fine, and I've made sure there were no shorts from the washers.

Sorry for the rather big bump, but any advice on how to fix a 0022?  No matter what I do I can't seem to fix it.  The CPU is tightened as much as I possibly can at every corner and no luck. sad.gif

Not sure if you did this or not, but after the xclamp removal, did you tighten the screws snug, then turn on your box without the fans on, or the fan shroud on, and wait for the 3 red lights to turn into 2 red lights, which tells you your box is overheating.  Wait about a minute ( I think ) with the 2 red lights, then quickly pull the power out, take the board out of the case gently without flexing it, and then tighten the bolts pretty good.  Place back in the case and let it cool down on its own, and remember not to bend the board, and remember to make sure that the screws on the under side of the mobo aren't making the board flex.  Don't screw any screws in before you test it, because that way you'll know (for example) why it worked before, and after putting it back together it doesn't work any more.  I know this was blah blah blah long ass repetitive info, but maybe there's something in here that you might have overlooked. good luck,

FYI - I actually have fixed one 0022 box, so I'm not just blowing these things out of my ass.  I remember it being a little beeeaaaaaatch though.
