Bricked Hitachi?

I have been getting unplayable disc with all my backups and originals and every other type of disc so i tried to re-flash it so right i have been trying to get the hitachi drive into modeb tried both slax cd's no good!

would show up in windows but when i put a disc in the drive it was not showing up and when i would try the flash tools would not get past stage one although it could dump the firmware ok

now after a few reboots and one E64 error the drive wont eject at all connected to pc or 360 i press eject on 360 it says open tray i press eject again i get reading disc

so is the drive broke? If so what's wrong with it? and how did it happen?
