Ok how do i "lube" it and with what kind of lube?

Also, when i used to start my 360, i heard the drive making some sort of sound and on top of the metal i could see the red laser, now i cant seem to see it no more nor hear the noise? does that mean the dvd drive is dead?

Thanks.

Open the drive remove the 4 screws you will see the band.. clean it with a paper worel, q-tip etc etc use anything that will not damage rubber,  then use some silcon  based lube or even some litihum grease..but just a small dab

why the hell would you lube it.. the problem is the band slips..silicone is just gonna mak it slip more... you lube the big huge white plastic piece that moves the motor assembly up and down

Hi yes its a m25, when i opened up the drive it had quite a lot of dirt around the whole drive, i removed as much as i could with cotton buds, im not sure about lube on the rubber band, as i dont have none of that stuff that you said, still seems to not work :S

Also when i opened it up, i put a disc in there and put it back together and tried to boot the disc up, but it didnt work, it only says open drive and close drive when i push the button (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Please help me fix this, i miss my xbox lol.

Can you see or hear a small motor spinning when you press the eject button? Your rubber band is probably stretched out or knocked of it's path.

Edit: Lubing the rubber band would not be wise. Roughing it up so it has more grip would be wiser. Clean it up with just a bit of alcohol. Do this only once because some rubbers tend to dissolve in alcohol.
