Progress With 3led Issue But... Ahh...
« on: May 15, 2007, 01:43:00 PM »

Okay, so I have now gotten my 360 to boot. I opened it up, replaced the thermal compound on the CPU/GPU, replaced the black plastic piece underneath the xclamps with slightly larger double-layered jewel case plastic. Put the whole thing back together, did the towel trick for 5 minutes, let the xbox sit for a while. Now it will 4 of 5 times boot up, but within 1-5 minutes, it completely freezes up with blue or red boxes all over the screen..

I thought this might be an overheating issue, but I opened it up again and put a huge fan over the heatsinks.. didn't change anything.
What the hell is going on??

Man, don't use the tower trick to heat your 360!

Just unplug the power cable for the fan and remove the White fan cover and the DVD drive. Then Power your 360 for about 2min and 10sec to 2min 30sec.

Don't forget to plug everything back after you are done.

Now it will 4 of 5 times boot up, but within 1-5 minutes, it completely freezes up with blue or red boxes all over the screen.. <-- I get those too except I didn't do any trick at that time, I only reheat the 360 everytime I get 3red lights.

There is a lot of methods to fix the problem, such as the x-clamp exchange methods by RBJtech's which I think last longer than Lawdawg0931's.

What I did was exchange the "rubber Pads" to fix the problem.

If your box boot up normal, but freez then just put rubber over 4mm on memory chip under motherboard and your box work fine.
Sorry for my English.
