3 Red Lights Of Death Fixed With Rubber-method But...
« on: May 03, 2007, 01:51:00 PM »

Hi folks,

okay, my 360 showed me the RLoD, one and a half year after I bought it.

I tried the rubber-fix, with success. But when I turn on my 360, it starts normal but then the fans sound like a starting airplane, in other words, they're keep getting faster and faster.

In the end, this results in an overheating error.

I'm sure the ram gets too hot because of the rubbers. But if I remove them, maybe in a week I'll see the trio of doom again.

Maybe putting the 360 in a vertical position helps to prevent the mainboard from bending anymore?

thx in advance

You put a rubber onto the ram-chips so they are pressed against the motherboard.
That'll help them to get "in contact" again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The Console itself is working, it just gets way to hot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

add extra fans and or ram sinks .. when you say way to hot do you have a temp gun? try and measure the heat..

the 360 gets warm....

Wait, you mean putting an insulator on one of the hottest parts of the system will make it hotter?!?

DO GO ON!

I have been saying from DAY 1 that this "fix" is hogwash. X Clamp replacement.

With way to hot I mean that the fans are going faster and faster, which indicates, that the systems is too hot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Actually, the rubbers I used were too big so the heat-clamps didn't contact the metal cage.
Currently testing with smaller ones. Because even if the system overheated, it booted normal into the dashboard (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
