Hi all .. just registered to post this possible fix for error 0102 users.
Sorry if this fix has been posted before, couldn't find it.
if you're getting 3 red lights on the ring of light, try debugging it first using this topic:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...484726&st=0If it returns 0102, your GPU is probably to blame. There are a number of things to try (if you're no longer under warranty):
- Try unplugging everything, plug it back in one by one. [easy]
- Try setting the AV cable from HDTV to TV if you're using an HDTV (you should (IMG:
style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)) [easy]
- Try it again later, let it rest for a slight moment [easy, then again.. kinda hard]
- Make sure that the fans and spinning are connected [easy]
- Disconnected HDD and DVD drive to be sure (not needed for boot) [voids warranty]
- Make sure there is no damage to the mainboard. [voids warranty]
- Replace the thermal pasta under the GPU/CPU coolers. [voids warranty]
- Blow with an air gun on the GPU/PCB etc.
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=3550914 [voids warranty]
- Replace the X-Clamps with your own DIY solution.
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=595746 [REALLY voids warranty]
However, I may have found a better solution which is much simplier and leaves no marks/requires no tools.
- Take of the X-Clamps (and replace the thermal paste while you're at it)
- Bend them slightly futher away from the PSB. Make sure you don't overdo it. Can't how much is enough.
- Place the clamps back. This can be tricky. Be sure to support the cooler itself and the mainboard pcb! Placing them back requires you go at it one corner at the time. Make sure it doesn't jump off into your face.
Voilla! This way the GPU/GPU cooler has more pressure on it and has an even better grip. My 360 died with 3ROL code 0102. My guess is that from all the handling on the unit, the x-clamp slightly "relaxed". Tried replacing the thermal paste, this didn't help. By putting more stress on the GPU, my 360 came back to life and gave me a nice clean grean ROL.
BE CAREFULL with bending the x-clamps too far. You can break your mainboard into a thousand little pieces! I am not to blame for any stupidity you enflict resulting from this life-changing tragedy!I am sorry I don't have any pictures to explain this small tip but I'm pretty sure you all get the picture.
Again .. this worked for me, might work for you. Good luck!
