X-clamp Replacement, Necessary To Drill Holes?
« on: April 19, 2007, 05:22:00 PM »

I was just about to head over to Home Depot for parts, but I was reading RBJTech's guide when I noticed there is a section about drilling bigger holes in the case to work with the larger screws.. is this necessary? I haven't seen anything about this in any other posts.

u donl;t have to drill holes u can just bolt the stuff directly onto the m/b insted of the case and get the same tread for the nut as the heatsink have so u donl;t have to screw eveyrthink think
all u gottta make sure is that under the m/b tht the screw exert a little pressure upward onto the m/b i alwayz foudn tth worked great
but bolting down directly to the metal cas is the best think

as long as u have the idea abiot bolt the heatsink downt o case and m/b u can basically figure out wht u need to do for the rest
casue tht wht i did all i did was read tht stoping the board from flexing thn i tought y donl;t i bolt it down and thn whn i searced i found those ghuy where doing it

If you don't want to drill out anything, you can follow the tutorial here: http://copronymous.com/home/wp-content/upl...4/3rlod_fix.pdf
Just don't alter parts listed, stay with whats listed - as clearances have been verified as accurate.
