I Think I Messed It Up Bad, Need Help!
« on: April 12, 2007, 01:51:00 PM »

Hello

Here is teh deal, i got the 3RLOD a month ago, i gave the board to an electronic company for reballing, now when i got the board back i still get the 3RLOD but i think the situation is worse, becuase it make a peep sound when i power it up and the 3 red lights appear right away.
before the reballing they heat the GPU loacly in a heating oven, i was thinking since the reheat thing don`t last long i decided to go with the Reballing, i think i made a BIG mistake.

is there anything i can do?

If its 0020, then I had this same issue, I thik that it means some transistor is blown.
I just put the mobo in the oven, and it worked perfectly.

Wrap it in a towel, wait for it to overheat. Hope it works. Don't use the same company in the future. In that order. Good luck.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)  who knows what the reballing destoryied... anyones guess..

They could have not reballed it right.. too much heat... anything...

You could try the x-clamp replacement and some artic silver 5... as a final resort if nothing else works you could also try a heat gun on the mem chips.. or oven , or towel at last resort before you have a door stopper

When i am checking the xbox to see if its working i check it with the AV cable connected and power supply, i am also connecting the small PCB that turns on the XBOX, do i need to connect the heatsinks and the case or thats enough?

and i can`t seem to get the error number code, the 3 red light just continue flashing.

If i am checking the xbox without the Heatsinks and the case, will the 3 red lights appear even if the board is fixed?

If you're checking it with the heatsinks removed then you're going to have more problems than the 3 red lights.

While the 360 does shut off when the temps are too high, running it without the heatsinks can still cause who knows what kind of damage. If you had this thing repaired and paid for it then you need to deal with the ones that did that. From the sound of it you sent them a dead 360 and got a dead one back, if it was a free repair then you haven't lost anything, as it sounds to me it's pretty shot now. Put the heatsinks back on it and see what the secondary error code is.

Sounds like something is shorted somewhere, either from the reheating of the chips or something else shorted out. The power supply could be bad, but I'd suspect it's something on the motherboard, what exactly is bad is hard to say, could be the chips from reheating, could be some other part shorted, no real easy way to tell without troubleshooting it and knowing what you're looking for.

You were right about the Short part, its the GPU i Reballed, i X-rayed it and i saw 5 of them. Is there a easy way to fix it or i need to Reballing it again?
They told me that teh problem is Soldering it back to the MoBo, they have hard time keeping the Mobo strait, he is getting an Angle during soldering and that wthat cused the Shorted.

P.S
Thanks for the Help so far BTW.
