E73 Error And 1021 Error
« Reply #15 on: August 18, 2007, 05:03:00 PM »

Tortuga2112 - at the moment all I've got is the motherboard inside the metal case, secure in by the 8 screws that I've used to replace the X-Clamps. So the black screws are no longer there at all, and there are no other scews in at the moment. I've tried loosening them but it just gives me the same error right up until they're so loose that the heatsinks aren't connecting properly, then I get 2 red lights (overheating).
I'm just a bit miffed that it worked the first time, but not the second time (without changing anything). Either it was just a fluke or something broke...

you could try the heat gun.

I've been testing out a new method with the x clamp replacement. I threaded the stock heatsink legs and put a nut on them to keep the mobo secured to the heatsink. I'm not using any washers so its easier and it keeps everything a consistent height.

so far so good.

I've got pics in the rbjtech tutorial thread.

E73 Error And 1021 Error

After much searching I was finally able to fix E73 on my Xbox 360.

I cannot guarantee that this will work for everyone and personally it was a last resort for me but there don't seem to be many options to fix it.

Remove the A/V cord from the back of the XBox 360. Stick two sticks into the fans to prevent them from spinning. This will cause the system to overheat within five minutes. You will know its done when the first and third quadrants light up red on the system (indicating the system has overheated). Unplug the system, plug it back in and turn it on to see if it was successful. (Note: While this method does not void your warranty, if your XBox is still under warranty I suggest sending to Microsoft to fix.)

Good Luck.

Hey ORange-9mm - was that a lasting fix? How's your 360 doing today?

Very much so.  Ended up replacing the 360.
