The "official" X-clamp Replacement Success Thread

Well after running for a few weeks my 360 started freezing this morning, and glitches started to appear on the screen, accompanied by a screeching noise.

Anyways I pulled the top plastic case off and loosened the bolts on the xclamp mod one at a time, on the GPU only, it then ran on COD4 for well over an hour until I switched it off, think I'm gonna add an extra case fan to suck more air out and a couple of small fans to suck more air in, fingers crossed that keeps it going this time.

Used a combination of both RBJtech and Lawdog's method.
Fantasic.
Been working for 5 days now, 20+ hours on actively playing, not a hitch.
Also, runs smoother than before? Bizarre?

Thank you.

Fixed the 3RLOD. No issues at all now, no freezing, works fine.

Yes, that is two separate successes, so far. Thank you for your solution. :D

My xbox was giving me the E 74 error (one red light).  Did the Lawdawg0931 x-clamp fix two days ago and so far so good!

used lawdawg's method succesfully to fix the 3ROD . I was skeptic at first, but it really did work.  Been running fine the last several days.

Would this kit work the same? also the baking method afterwards seems to work just as well.

Had code 0021...before it came to me it would boot, then freeze on intro video, eventually not booting at all giving RROD.

Tried the MKIII method and ARS5...still wouldn't boot.  Used the heat gun method and viola...works great...so far.  Will report back if status has changed.

worked for a day and now i am experiencing freezing up.

thought it was just an error w assassins creed, yet i tried a couple other games and got the same thing.  i loosened up the yellow/gold screws and tightened up the new xclamp replacement screws.  now i'm heating up the console and will see if it works after that.

if anyone could post suggestions on what to do if yours starts to freeze up after fixing it with the xclamp replacement methond that would be great!

I lost count after fixing console number 57...I think ive repaired approx 75 or so now. I have only used the original method with the screws and washers to remove the xclamps-no baking or other attempts at other solutions.

All but 2 have worked perfectly after the repairs, 1 was put in the freezer by the owner after the repair due to video freezing-it NEVER worked again and he swears he was sober when he did it. The other was my personal console which had video freezing that I could not repair.

I have 3 more consoles at home with the 0102 error that will be repaired this weekend, hopefully no issues.
