Okay, first thing's first. I started with 3 lights, did the eraser trick and....nothing. Secondary code was 0020. I removed the x-clamps and replaced with screws and washers. Now the console powers up, 3 lights flash, then 2 lights, then the console powers itself down; the 2 lights continue to flash, and the secondary code is 0011 now. Any suggestions?

just used another thermal compound, (akasa pro-grade 460) the store didn't have AS5, and used 5mm black steal  break washers to make more pressure and they don't come off over time

First, Thanks go out to RBJtech and lawdawg0931 for all their hard work and to xbox-scene and the community.

Just wanted to add my experience...

RRoD, wouldn't boot.

Used MKIII method, bolted the heatsinks down, used AS5.  Also did RBJtech's fan shroud mod.

Works perfectly, has never frozen or had another RRoD.  Been running with this fix for about 6 months now, so this should give people confidence that this is a good long-term fix.

Big thanx to lawdawg0931 for this great tut... and big thanks to all users for leaving there reports...

I have completed the ROL mod and happy to say the system is running great now for 2 days.. i will update in the future..

took me a while to get it working right, at first i tightened up all screws after applying new AS5 and it would boot up normal but give me 2 red lights after 2 mins..  then i cleaned paste off again and re-did the screws, this time back to ROL, lool... Finally cleaned paste again and tightened everything up some more and let it bake for 2 mins and it has been working ever since..  No freezing issue's at all!!

too much paste kept giving me heat issue's, 2 red lights..

i hope this lasts. i just got an elite and will now use this system for mods..

people that are having trouble, just keep at it, i did and it payed off...

Just got done doing the x-clamp fix using RBJ's method. Works great! Had to fiddle with the screws a bit to get it to boot, but it works awesome. I am so glad it works now!

mark a yes it worked for me biggrin.gif

(also, before i tried it with the parts listed in the OP i bought some kit off of a dutch website, i do NOT recommend buying that. It went from an error 0102 to a 0020 because it was bending the board so bad. Just a tip)

Fixed problem using combination of methods. On cpu 4mm bolts with 2 washers between motherboard and HS with a spring washer and and nut then lock nut. On Gpu used adapted pentium 11 slot heatsink cut down to fit space covers slightly larger area but does not run as hot existing Gpu HS. Thanks again, took a couple of reboots to get it running but now been running for 24 hours without any glitches.

Im surprised to say it works.  I used the MkIII and throughly cleaned the chips with GoofOff and rubing alcohol before applying Arctic Silver 5.

I had to use the baking method though even though MkIII says not to, works great now.

forget that, it dont work no more  sad.gif  uhh.gif
