E79 Error
« on: April 03, 2007, 09:42:00 AM »

If you look at the very large pinned topic in this very forum...that says..

"IF YOU HAVE AN XBOX ERROR READ THIS!!!"

It says the following..

E79 is a hard drive error.  Remove your hard drive and replace.  If the error still persists, try playing without the hard drive.  Your hard drive may be faulty or damaged.

E79 Error
« Reply #1 on: April 04, 2007, 04:54:00 PM »

I have just fixed a friends Dead 360 which had a E79 and 3 Red lights Error.. this was done again using the Heat Gun routine as I had exhausted all other fixes  i.e using a new harddrive, no harddrive, memory cards.. preying.. tampering etc !! lol.  So I`m not so sure about E79 being only a Harddrive error problem??

Anyhow So far so good, only downside is since doing the heatgun treatment the wireless controllers are not recognised and the power on/off button doesnt seem to work although all the lights do work on the Power Controller board!!  Thankfully the Eject button turns it on and tomorrow I shall find out if a wired controller will work .. crossfingers..   better then no 360 at all if not quite perfect biggrin.gif

Fixed my wireless controller problem switch was slightly jammed after the heatgun treatment slightly melted it.. a bit of a tweak with pliers sorted tongue.gif only thing that dont work now is the power on/off button still dont need that now biggrin.gif woohoo

Anyhow Mods maybe worth updating the E79 error as being fixable by the Heatgun method too

Maybe it has something to do with Harddrive but I tried everything to fix it before resorting to the xtreme method of blasting a heatgun at it..

Sorry for double post. Xbox is not doing anything but giving me 0102. I even let it sit with 0102 for 35 minutes... turned it off turned it on and 0102 again. So ****! I gotta open that ****!
