Drive Wont Read Any Discs (video)
« on: March 27, 2007, 06:59:00 PM »

Did the drive make any noise?  Usually sudden failure indicates the magnetic ring that holds the disc down has come unglued.  If you open the drive itself you can see if the magnet is stuck to the top cover.

Okay let me get this straight...

It suddenly stop working... THEN you took it apart right?

I would try the rubberband fixes.. search the site for them.

This is certainly not a n00b problem.. might want to ask the mods to move it to the technical forum.

That noise as far as I am concerned is normal (When it does not read anyway...)

You can try tweaking the pots as a last ditch effort...

Or just replace the drive.

You've already posted this in a couple others threads in here as well as cross posting over the forums it seems. What to try has been stated in another thread you've posted in, either try the POT tweak or replace the laser first, then worst case scenario replace the drive.
