This all started when i was playing forza motorsport on my 360 and suddenly it froze. Well i was hoping for the best, unfortunately when i restarted the damn thing it went 3 red lights on me. Suddenly this sucked as my previous 360 did go 3 red lights on me. When i called MS they said $126 Canadian to fix it as it was 2 months out of warrenty. I actually considered sending it in, but before i do that i was gonna do the heatgun method everyone is raving about. That night i was too late to make it to any hardware stores which sucked. So i decided to fix it on my own and see what i could do without the need of a heatgun.
This is how i fixed it
ok after reading many ways to fix the problem and learning a bit more about the xclips. I decided to play arround with tightening the small black screws into the xclips. After loosening all the screws but still in the xclips i got 2 lights! yay overheating! then i did only 2 screws slightly turned down on the gpu side and boom all 3 red lights gone. So i screwed down the cpu screws and tightened 2 screws on the gpu side while the other 2 are close to tight. This worked for me! It seems that it is all about how much pressure is applied to the x clips on the gpu side i assume. My box is mfg in 2005-09-19. I also added ramsinks to the underside of the mobo where there wern't even any thermal pads grr.gif Anyway hope this helps some and gives hope before doing the heatgun mod.

I also applied AS5 to the gpu core and cpu core. Everything runs great and a lot cooler now. also replaced the original fans in my mfg 2005-09-19 xbox 360 to ones without the white sticker from a 2006 mfg xbox 360 i had laying in peices. The original fan didn't pull nice they are delta fans. The ones with the black label pull better. Will get the talismoon fans the next chance i get
