Received Older Console When Sent Away For Repair...
« on: March 09, 2007, 09:28:00 AM »

I wasnt sure if this is the right spot to post this, but anyway here we go. I bought a broken 360 off ebay cheap so that i could repair it, but it turned out that the system hadnt been opened so i called up microsoft and said "is this thing still under warranty?" and they said "yeah sure, send it to us and we will fix it" so i send it away and a couple weeks later i get it back, and it does work, but problem is they didnt send back the same console, this one has a manufacturers date of oct 2005, mine was may 2006. i know its only like 6-7 months difference, but dont the older consoles have more chance of overheating? If they replaced the console why would they send me such an old one... shouldnt they send a new one if the other one cant be fixed? Also wouldnt that mean the serial number changed and would change on my warranty? Anybody ever have this happen? any suggestions, like should i complain and ask for a new system or....?

yes it is working for now, but what about when i go to sell it and it works for two weeks and then the person comes back to me saying its fucked... then i gotta go buy a new one for them. All I am saying is why would they #1) not give me back my original console #2) give me a really old system that will most likely die out right after the warranty ends (couple months)

i am feeling a little ripped off because they just replaced my console with a much older one that will most likely die again. they havent had as many problems with the newest systems so why send me back one that is even older than the one i sent them?

They supply refurbs.. end of. You could argue all day with MS but it will get you nowhere.
You had a stuffed console.. got the bonus of a free replacement. The replacement works fine .
You are now worrying about it going faulty when it may not ever go faulty.
How do you know its not only the case that is old. It may have brand new bits inside.
