Xcm Cooling Fan - Far Too Loud!
« on: March 08, 2007, 03:11:00 PM »

I put the talismoon replacement rear fans in and am *very* happy with those, much more airflow and quite a bit quieter.

I added the XCM fan, (sits at the front in front of the CPU) and it is *ridiculously* loud, it is like sharing the room with a 747.

Is there any way to quieten it down!?! It runs off the DVD power supply.

you can add a resistor to limit tech voltage. this will limit the speed of the fan, and thus reduce noise

Yeah I know how to do that, I was just wondering if anyone else had this fan and wether mine was unusually loud.

from what i have heard, the fans on those are loud. if you want to quieten them down a bit, add a resistor
