Xbox360 Alternate Controller?

While the 360 controller is fine for most games, there are some games (e.g. Winning Eleven) where I would really prefer to use the D-pad.  The D-pad on the 360 controller, however, is probably the worst on any console.  So my question is, does anyone know of a good alternate controller out there?  Or maybe some sort of adapter that would allow me to use a PS2 controller on the 360?  I know that there are PS2 controller adapter out there (e.g. here or here) but neither of these are listed as compatible for the 360.  Does anyone know if they are compatible, or if there are any good alternate controllers out there?  Thanks!
