Xbox 360 Cheap Wireless Solution: Use Routers
« Reply #30 on: January 31, 2007, 03:39:00 PM »

It's been how many years since the first xbox was marketed with that $100 wi-fi adapter..... come on now this doesnt even deserve a front page.... $100 = 2 Wi-Fi routers (most of which can be firm hacked to open the bridging if its not available on the lower priced models). Seriously, consumers that don't do the homework deserve the $100 price tag on the adapters put out by M$.

What's worse is companies have been getting one over on the lazy for many many years, and as long as those stay ignorant to exhausting all of their current resources, or alternate technology, they're gonna keep on doing it.. So here's to Microsoft for getting one over on the stupid once again!!  beerchug.gif

HELLO TO YOU ALL i used something less complicated and it's cheaper. If you can think back to when Logiitech came out with the PLAY LINK wireless connection.  It used to cost 100 bucks, well it's only like 17 bucks on ebay. I've purchased it and my friends have as well. You have 2 boxes that send the signal to each other and works as a wired network. YOu plug one box to your router, and the other box to the 360.  works up to 100ft. No lag, no connection issues everything you need is in the box, i'll post a link for the logitech page and also the items found on ebay.  I'm using the linksys router WRT54GL . So there you go, for those of you who must have wireless like myself.

ExpertFAQs is ironing out a few bugs and optimizing server loads, so the URL to the article has changed to: http://www.expertfaq...Cheap_Wireless/

Sorry for any inconvenience!

How bout adopting this mod for the 360  .
No need for the external cable, just solder internally to the points. via switch if you want to turn off the wireless.

NOW THAT LOOKS AWESOME!
But is a re-ash of an original XBOX mod which leads me to the question, have you done it on the 360? How well does it fit? Where did you get the power from?

It still has the disadvantage of voiding both the 360 and adapter warranty, but in terms of slickness it even beats the Official Adapter!
Now I am thinking of doing one of those myself. It's a pity I never saw a Wireless Ethernet adapter *that* small in my region..

That is the actual rehash you mention (linked) , No I have not done it yet, but the mod should be a simple one.

Would 45m be better than getting 2 wrt54g's for AUD70?

I was looking at the Linksys gaming adaptor, I googled the name to read some reviews and read that it could not support wireless networks with any type of security. Can anyone confirm this for me? I live in an area with multiple wireless networks and running my network un secure is not an option.
