512 MB Memory Unit listed on Gamestop

From xbox360fanboy.com:

Back in early December we reported a 256 MB Memory Unit being listed on Gamestop. Apparently, the same page now lists the card as being 512 MB, double the capacity of the previously unconfirmed accessory. This definitely can support the rumors of the new 250 MB cap for arcade titles and even the 450 MB limit that needs Microsoft's approval. The $49.99 price tag isn't that bad.

Awesome. And only 10 bucks more than a 64 MB unit.

Pretty good for people that want to buy the Core console, that is a reasonable amount of space for downloads and saves, in addition to being portable.

no thanks, I will stick with the HDD.
49.99 for 512 MB or 99 for the 20 GB HD...you do the math.

The law diminishing marginal utility applies, it depends on what the person needs to do.

Ok so
512MB 49.99
64MB  39.99
Where does this make sense $10.00  between the 512 and 64 they need to drop the 64 to about 20 bucks.
20GB hard drive new 99.00 used 79.00

Say I want to copy my profile or some downloaded XBLA game to a friend's X360 who doesn't have internet or otherwise? I see this as a good thing, some people might balk at the space vs having a hard drive, but it does help.

you are purely paying only for the luxury of portability - there is no other reason one would bypass either (1) the premium 360 vs the core plus this 512 MB card or (2) the $99 20 GB HD in order to pay $50 for only 512 MB of space - esp with all of the downloadable content like TV shows, movies, trailers, demos, etc.

Yes this is the reason.512mb is good enough to keep everything except movies, demos.

Wirelessdeo according to your math 20gb is $99 so 64mb memory card should be less than $1. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)  I don't disagree (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

flash memery is more expensiv then hd memery. 50 bucks for 512 mb is a good deal.as fir the other memery yes there both to expensiv. you can get 120 gigs for 100$. 20 gigs should be around the 40 or 50$ mark. the 64 mb memery card should be abought 20 bucks thats the going rate for such small flash memery.

but if you look at it not many people acully buy those 64mb memery cards they just go get the hd. if frends system is a core who hasent got a hd yet other frend normaly just brings his hd.i think couse most people knoe the price vs size is insanly priced like most things where at launch. now your gonna get a mutch larger card at the proper price.

exactly!!  microsoft needs to evaluate these prices.  even the $99 for a 20gig is crazy.  i got my memory stick 512MB for $15 so theirs no way you can tell me the MS logo is worth the $50.  let us use memory sticks for gamesaves please.  sony has the right idea by letting you use your own hard drive for its system.  i dont personally care for the system but they are spot on with the hard drive idea.
