The code for the RC23 and RC24 is 21972(Media Center PC).

Make sure your 360 is set to "All Channels" in the remote setup menu.

The rca directv remote works without any codes on the original xbox and vice versa.
It got to be a problem as you can imagine - until I replaced the directv box.
Any RCA remote that controlled a DVD player worked with the original xbox.

Thanx for the code guys! Now I'm off to try it.

Thanks again guys for the code. The code "21972(Media Center PC)" worked like a charm. One less remote for me. I love DirecTV remotes... now if only they can make their DVR work as well.

I tried the IR code 1708 but seems that it does not work with the UK Universal One For All remote.  sad.gif

Does any one know the 360's UK Universal One For All remote code !!

thanks.

mostly every universal remote can play the 360 on the planet, they all pretty much have the "search your code feature" they are describing that feature just use that on your remote and if all els fells (your going to love this next sentence) "READ THE MANUAL"

P.S. i love the old days when Microsoft used the IR device of RCA remotes sines all my remotes was (at the time) RCA my code was 0000 for my Xbox 1

this really isnt all that fascinating. DTV uses RCA remotes. the xbox dongle uses RCA remotes.
hell, my xbox remote controls one of my RCA dvd players just fine out of the box.

my expressvu remote controls my dvd player.

?? did someone just stumble on this now that m$ doesnt make theyre own remotes?

OK I see a lot of people saying the same thing over and over and for some reason you just don't get it. The question/statement "why not get a harmony remote?" Because you haven't bought me one yet. For all of you who didn't know this before... Harmony remote = lots of money, while DirecTV remote = Free with service. Hell I even have a spare for my DVR. True you can download and program Harmony remotes like crazy, but short of that the DirecTV remote is the most flexible universal remote I've ever seen. Not to mention all the programing info you will ever need (short of programming the 360) is found on the receivers themselves leaving no books to misplace.

So until one of you begins handing out Harmony remotes for a handshake and a smile... stop saying "360 is also easily supported by the Logitech Harmony remotes" or "I get horney looking at my Harmony remote." wink.gif

We all want one but some of us can't spend our money like that...

Good job to everyone who helped out... believe it or not a lot of people will be overjoyed to be able to do this, and I'm one of them.

Cool but is there really any need? You can buy 2 different controls, either the original DVD remote or the universal which costs a little bit more.

The point here is to reduce the number of remotes used. Just for me to watch satellite alone would take me 3 separate remotes if I did not have the universal one by DirecTV. (1) for TV, (1) for A/V receiver/video switch, and (1) for the satellite receiver. That may be fine with you, but trust me, it's not very popular with the lady of the house.
