i have a sammy ms25 drive...the laser works, i can see the laser flash, the console tries to read discs, it will start to read a game, then display "open tray"...i can insert a dvd movie, it will display "open tray" immediately, i can eject the disc, close the tray, and it will say "reading" and i can hear the drive making all sorts of weird noises...its trying to read the disc but the console never plays it..i flashed a ms25 drive i had laying around w/ the correct key and it works perfect...any ideas as to whats wrong w/ it?

and the second drive..

is a hitachi v78...as soon as a disc is inserted it displays "open tray"...i never see a laser and the drive never tries to spin the disc...never even begins to try to read a disc...im thinking the laser is bad since i dont see a red laser @ all..the laser moves when the console is first started or the tray closed but nothing after that...any ideas on this one?

i got the same thing, i when i adjusted the pot, everything worked good, i didnt need to on my samsung though.  Maybe try the pot adjust, or the rubberband trick? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)
