Sound But No Video!
« on: January 08, 2007, 08:52:00 PM »

Hello all. I have a 360 that no longer has Video. It worked the other day. But it seems like after I redid the thermal past for the CPU it worked. But now a few days later after not being touched it no longer works. Would a bad past job do this? Do I need to redo the CPU?

Thanks to all that can help

A silly question, but do you have the video switch set to the correct setting?  This is a common problem.
If it is HD, be sure to set it as such and if it is SD.... be sure to set it as such (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
A HOPE that was your problem... it's a nice EASY fix (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Trust me I tried that many times to make sure it was on the right switch. I can hear sound and I know my legal backups are running. I can hear Gears of War so I know my firmware is correct. Does anyone have any ideas. Thank you for the reply.

Hey thanks for the reply,

I just went out yesterday and picked up a heat gun from Ace Hardware. They are 21.99. Came home from work today and took the motherboard out. Took off both heat sinks and wiped away the old thermal past. I wrapped the heat sensetive Items in Tinfoil. Preformed the heating and after that hooked it up and what do you know It worked!!!!! Now for the people out there that are saying this is not going to work and its the "Placebo affect" let me tell you that is complete BS. I have tried everything I have taken the heat sinks off multiple times put in new Thermal past and all. Stll no video. Did the Heat gun trick and I now have a working 360. So take it as you like. NOW IT MAY NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE , but it has for me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Thanks to those that have spoken.

Well I never had the 3 red lights. They were always green, but I would never get video. So I gave it a shot and Iam now playing my 360 again.

Thank you all
