Bad Dvd Drive?
« on: January 08, 2007, 12:13:00 AM »

ok, i found a similar post to this but it didnt answer my question. my friend has a 360 with a Hitachi drive that doesnt read discs at all! when i pop a game in, its says reading disc for about 10 secs, then nothing, it just goes back to open tray. so my question would this be a firmware issue or the fact that something is broken inside the drive? the xbox has never been opened or anything like that, but the warranty has gone out on it. any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem.  But what I noticed was that the disc never turned.  I put the disc in so that I could read the writing, and when I opened the tray, the disc was still in the same orientation.  Would that also be a laser or pot problem?

A repair company told me to replace the motherboard and the drive.
