I had a hell of a day yesterday, which ended in a totally normal and innocent plugging in of my power cable back into the DVD drive only to hear a soft 'crack'.
End result is that one side of the power plug port on the back of my Samsung MS25 has popped off the PCB (as far as I can tell, peering in from outside). I went digging for a soldering iron and a screwdriver small enough to open the case and take a look last night, but due to the time and my frustration level (and that fact that both tools were lost in a recent move) it got delayed until today.
Is there only the two solder points on the power receptacle, on the far left and right side - or are there additional traces/contacts below the plug that would have been damaged as well? Anyone know?
If I end up not being able to repair it with my moderate soldering skills, what other options would I have? Are the dvd/mobo pairs keyed in such a way that I can't grab a replacement?
