I'd like to hear from the guys that have done multiple consoles.

I'd like to know what percentage of these with the # 102 error code have been fixed with the heat gun.

another member ,mygamewirelesscom,  said he's done 15 consoles and had about half come back. after doing it again at a higher temp, he said they seem to be ok now. that's a pretty good success rate!

so , for the guys that have had success,  I'd like to get some advice.

how are you determining how long to heat the cpu and gpu chip. solder bits? (I read that in another post)

If I heat the chip enough to reflow the solder , what about the other little transistors or whatever you call them on the top of the CPU and GPU? won't the solder get melted on top before the balls on the bottom of the chip. it looks like you'd be pretty screwed if one of those things shifted when you heat the top of the chip.

I tried the heat gun but it didn't work, I'm not sure if I let it heat up long enough though.

it seems like a very fine line between not enough and too much heat.

hey i did more then 50 360
and geting more ...
i get 10~15 a week every day more repairs ......
yes some are coming back they are more then just a heat gun repairs
it needs more _____and i put a______and it is working good so far~~~!!

my thanks to pimpmaul and mygamewirelesscom.

I tried it gain , leaving it a little longer and the thing's running now.  

boots up every time now. played gears for about an hour, not one lockup.

happy as a pig in shit now!!

just hope it lasts, I'm going to let it run overnight and see if its ok.

i fixed mine with the heat gun 2 days ago boots up first time no frezzing or red lights,couldn't even boot it up before the fix.thankyou  everyone involved with helping me.

I fixed 5 boxes total only 2 were heatgun repairs 3 fall under the "other" catagory, But i use a rework station at ~650° and air set to 0, Also use solderpaste , i pretty much remove/reinstall the memory chips

Wow your high tech, lol, anyway I did the heat gun repair on mine and it run flawless for a whole week and then started the same old shit again, three red light and working when it feels like it.  It gets me mad sometimes, I played Gears of War non stop for two days straight without one freeze up when I first done the heat gun, now it just freezes when it wants to like in random places such as the dashboard or the 360 ball logo on start up.  It gets worse everyday but I'm gonna chunk it if it doesn't start showing me more appreciation for what I did for that defective piece of shit.  Excuse my language but it gets me upset alot.
