Hi guys, need a bit of help. Yesterday I tried to flash my hitachi/LG drive with the Maximus/Garyopa firmware using the Slax CD method. I found that after putting the drive into what I thought was mode B windows would recognise it and the software could connect to it but only very slowly. I tried several times this way to backup my original firmware and flash the drive using the 'flash15s.bat' method. It took about 10 mins to complete the process and always failed at the first step of flashing saying 'drive is not flashing' or something like that. At first I couldnt understand the problem but found out in the end through pure luck that the dvd drive wasnt properly in Mode B as I hadnt let the Slax CD get right to the end of the install, my mistake.
So I went through the process again letting the Slax put the drive into Mode B properly and this time the drive responded a lot quicker in windows and the 'flash15s.bat' command all went well and the drive was flashed. I Put the 360 back together and it comes up 'please insert this disc in an xbox360 console'!! I thought initially that this was due to the drive not recognizing my Verbatim discs as I have read Hitachi can be a bit funny with some media, but in the end none of my games worked and I figured something else was up (the drive still plays DVD movies but dont have an original game to test, although i'm pretty sure an original wouldnt work now).
Anyway I figured from reading on here its something to do with an incorrect drive key (grasping at straws) and went back to the folders the Maximus software had created looking for the was.bin or any old firmware file backup. Using keygen.exe I tried to extract the key from the backed up firmware, I know im supposed to have a 16 bit hex which im assuming is actually a 32digit sequence (dont know too much about hex) but my drive key is actually 2 characters shorter than what it should be (only 30 instead of 32 with 2 spaces where the digits should be) and 360 toolbox wont insert it into another firmware file. It just says incorrect size. When I load the backed up firmwares in 360toolbox all there is in the 'key' box is a load of zeros, its only using keygen.exe with was.bin that I got any sort of key at all albeit the wrong length. I think personally that as the drive wasnt connecting properly when trying to flash the first time that it didnt get my drive key properly and thats buggered me up right from the start....
I know this sounds a bit long winded and might confuse some but just wondered if basically is my 360 knackered (wouldnt be the end of the world as I also have a 360 with a samsung drive which I flashed fine and all is good.) or is there some way of salvaging it, its sat in my kitchen at the moment in bits until I decide what to do with it (IMG:

Any ideas anyone??
Cheers
Chris.
