Gow Won't Run Along With Multiplayer

So my 360 started being a bitch today.  Everytime I inserted or removedGears of War, I got this sick grinding sound.  There are no scratch marks on the disc bottom, but it does it and I'm afraid it's going to mess up the system.  Also, Gears will boot, but when it goes to load the checkpoint, it jumps right back to the difficulty selection screen.  And when I search for online games in Gears or Rainbow 6: Vegas, it always comes up as being unable to find any.  I don't know what's wrong with it, I tried turning it on it's side and it still doesn't want to work.  Any help is appreciated.

same thing here with gears.but i dont have rainbow 6
