"e68 Error"

I received this error on a new, modded xbox. Xbox rep told me It's a harddrive error, log on live to get auto updates and my problem should go away. Is it safe to log on live with a modded box?

A new and modded console?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)  If you meant the firmware is flashed then you can go onto Xbox Live with it.

i had a 1 hour phonecal with some numpty about a brand new premium, he kept telling me to get the updat and it will fix it, i said yeah how come when the 360 hung at startup and i couldnt use the bloody drive? eventually he agrred that it was faulty - i tried it on 2 360s same error - and they sent me a new one, ive still got the old one cos im not paying to send it back.

what im wondering is can i clone it and use the image to fix the knackered one? ive had it plugged into pc and it has no errors according to seatools

for info only , i sent a 360 back for repair after i got the 3 red lights 0102 error, got another one back yesterday with my Copy of NFS Carbon in the box!! i seriously expected my box back unfixed but nope got a different box with a hitachi drive in it( mine was a sammy). So if you got a knackered box in europe it might be worthwhile chancing your luck and getting a refurb sent back
