Rf Module Info
« on: December 24, 2006, 08:51:00 PM »

hey guys,

Quick question. I've searched for info on the front panel RF Module and all i've found is general information about removing it, or modding the lights on it. My question is, what are the two metallic chips to the left and right of the power button/lights. I'm guessing the one on the left is an antenna and the one on the right is an EEPROM of sorts. Is this correct? Whats the story with the EEPROM? I'm looking into some projects with the RF interface.

The RF module connector is USB powered. I'd rather know if anyone's wired it up to a standard USB cable and written some drivers for it (or do the drivers for the wired controller have the wireless module drivers built in...)

The actaul antenna is on the back of the board, the "metal square" on the left is most likely some kind of reradiating antenna for it, since it has no electrical connection to the board.

The can on the right contains the Wireless chip and some other parts, almost the same as what's in the Wireless controllers. The chip is marked with VM58RC.
