Dvd Question
« on: December 24, 2006, 06:33:00 AM »

Hi I have just started to learn about xbox modding and i'm understanding alot of it but somethings are unclear.... My 360 was one made back in december 05, now its extended warranty is gone becuase microsoft would not take my xbox for repair.

So my DVD drive makes a weird sound and i found someone else online with the same problem and they say their xbox later died!

So i need a new dvd drive... only problem is I love playing live!
(i'm new so i may be wrong) But what i understand is that u have to lock the new DVD drive to the xbox to make it work.

The question is do u have to put firmware on or can it read discs as usual as long as u lock it.

I'm ok with paying for games if it meens my 360 can't get detected for a mod!

yes you do.. and getting a new laser can get rid of funny noises.. you have to trust me on that one.. if it is a samsung changing the laser can fix all kinds of noise problems

yes the answer is both...many modded samsung drives were bricked from the update that were modded.. but if you do it right you can fix the bricking
