Dead Rf Unit Or Something Worse..
« on: December 22, 2006, 06:15:00 PM »

I flashed an xbox360 today with ms28 fw, backed up original with samread then i setup the 5.0b fw and flashed it.  Now when i turn the 360 on i get no lights on the 360 at all and the controller never connects... anyone ever see this before or have a reason for it.  Backups boot up and everything and originals so this doesnt make sense how that would even be affected by flashing the dvdrom which was successful

Bump, i'm having the same problem but I have a ms25 drive with 5.0b. Same symptoms, lights on the xbox are not working, wireless controllers won't connect, but games do work and wired controller does work. The firmware coudln't be a reason for this, could it?

Can either of you restore your original FW and see if the problem corrects itself? That sounds like a right funky "bug" to me for the FW to cause, but stranger things have happened.

I tried flashing it back with the original firmware, does the same thing, flashed with 5.1b, still didn't work. So I just ordered a new RF board. but should the power button work if the RF and leds are not working? cause it's all on the same board.

There's a lot of stuff on the RF board true, but it's not all "tied" together. If you're replacement board works please post back in here, it's possible both of you did the exact same thing to your boards (if they were removed) and they can be fixed. I can't really see the firmware causing it and there not being a heap more posts about it, that's something that would be noticed fairly quickly and posted about even faster.

If your new board doesn't work then I'd start hunting.....somewhere. That's just a really odd problem and if another board doesn't work then you'll have to do some serious hunting to nail that down, unless ya get lucky and see what's missing/broken and causing the problem. Aside from checking the RF boards connectors for any bent/missing pins and swapping the board like you're about to try, you'll need to do some real trouble shooting to nail that down. If the new one works let me know, I'd be interested in hunting down what's wrong on the old one.

Yeah it was the RF board; I replaced it and it worked fine. I'm guessing it got fried somehow when i was copying a game to the computer. Weird because i did ground it to the computer's case
