Noisy Xbox, Even Without Disk In

Hi all,

I had never experienced an Xbox 360 until I got mine a few days ago.

I know they are noisy with DVD's inserted, but mine is really noisy, just turning it on and playing without disks (Live Arcade) or even just sitting at the dashboard.

The noise changes frequency too, quiet often as if the fans are working harder depending on CPU load.

Is this normal ? I think it's a Samsung drive with 4.2b firmware.

Yes , this is normal ..

The fans rev up and down depending on the cpu's temp .

Enjoy you 360 ..

Thanks for the reply.

It took me years to get my PC ultra quiet! think I will stick the 360 in a different room to the TV and run a longer cable.

Thank god it has wireless controllers - there is no way my Wife will put up with that noise in the living room.

It's bad enough getting her to give me a couple of hours to utilize the TV for "me time" !!!
