Ok. So my xbox 360 wasn't reading discs or thinking that they were dvds.

It was out of warranty so I took it all apart and ordered a replacement laser from ebay.  It was a very simple swap. I put it back together and everything worked as good as new...

for about a week...

When I configured my wireless adapter it asked me if I wanted to update my console.  Ever since the Microsoft update it is back to not reading the discs again.  Is there a way to "undo" an update?  Is it a fluke or did the update cause it not to be able to read the discs?

Could another failing part be causing the laser to fail?

Ugh.  I am about ready to throw this hunk out the window.  Now its me against the white box.  I'm determined to figure it out.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

these consoles are fairly young so problems like this may start appearing all over the place like the crappy ps2 laser if you do suspect the laser there are a few things i can think of that may help.
i know the ps2 used to have a problem with the cushning on the mount for the dvd they would thin out and the disc would sit to close to the laser making it fail to read the disc properly try using some scotch tape and put an even layer around it see if that helps 360 spin fast.
its simple but try cleaning the inside of the drive do you have pets? is your room a dusty place?
have you tryed loading the games in without the hard drive on a friend can only get saints row to load in if he removes his
these are stabs in the dark but i hope u find a solution
