No Video, No Audio
« on: November 14, 2006, 11:01:00 PM »

Heres another error to add to the collection.....  E45

Here are the symptoms:
Power on with the power button, center lights up green, ROL doesnt circle, no audio or video displayed on tv.
Dvd will still eject normal, can sync a wireless controller and the corresponding ROL segment will light green.
Turns off fine with the power button and will power back up with the controller guide button or dvd remote.
Most of the time it will just sit like that for hours, yet occasionally, when holding down the guide button or just randomly on its own, the fourth segment of the ROL will flash red and suddenly there is the error screen displayed on the tv....E45
Lately it hasnt been giving me the error, just sits there, on, with nothing displayed, so I cannot extract the secondary error code or provide a screen shot of the error.

The basic functions of the mobo seems to operate, controller sync, dvd ejects, fans run and respond to removal of air duct, IR functions, and obviously the gpu works as it can display that support screen.  My thought is that it is the dash file on the flash that is corrupt or not loading.

If I can get that error again sometime I will post up a screen shot and extract the secondary error code.

BTW I bought this box used in this condition so I do not know the details if this happened during a dash update.
I may attempt to remove the flash chip and see if this still acts the same way, it would be interesting to see if it still does the same thing, as this would indicate that the basic bios functions are hard coded into one of the custom chips on the mobo.

Another random thought, the originally shipped dash is also located on the flash, at what address?  Would it be possible to jumper this to boot only from that section?  Time to read the datasheet I guess, and start messing around.
