960 by 540!!!!

so what? For peeps that dont got a 360, have a PC and want  HD movies. The xbox hd-dvd player is not the best but the cheapest way to go! $499 = stand alone hd-dvd unit

The point is, thats not an HD resolution.  1280x720 or 1920x1080 is (720p 1080p).  So as of right now, its not showing the movies in HD.  Eventually (hopefully) that will change with a software update/workaround

And the right hardware.. which at this point nobody has any real answers for us..

some say dual core/1 gb ram and the right video card ??

some say a regular 3.4 ghz or something with the right video card and enough memory might be good enough as well.

guess it all depends and no doubt shit will be coming out to deal with playing HD DVD... homebrew and commercial

I guess if you computer can play 1080p of them footage HD-DVD should be fine. My AMD Duron PC can barley play 720p.

Excuse my ignorance on this one, I don't have HD yet so haven't been following this. What's the chances of swapping the 360 internal drive out and putting one of these in? Will game be read by this drive or have they hobbled that?

QUOTE(alexh @ Nov 13 2006, 07:01 PM) View Post

Zero. The 360 internal drive is a native SATA drive and this appears to be a PATA drive.

You can convert EIDE(PATA) to SATA.

True, but as a media player only, it could work.

the lunacy!! a double decker xbox360!! jesus makes me want pb& j jester.gif that would look damn odd! i guess u could do it possibly, but not in the 360 case. i think u could do it in a pc case, if u did sum crazy stuff.

as far as the firmware goes, im relle not sure. i dont know about it, but u would have to know sum serious programming to blend hd-dvd/dvd with the 360 games. just wait till the new hdd comes out, or use ur own, this way u can dl movies! dvds are gonna become obselete over internet media soon neway! pop.gif

I was able to run the drivers on my XP desktop, but when I try running them on my Vista laptop, I get the following message: "The inf file you have selected does not support this method of installation"

Anyone have any pointers?

Thanks
