If you got the error without the HDD in (and someone respectable on XS says its an A/V issue) then i'd get the full replacement, i swear most of the time MS doesnt even know whats wrong with their own console.

why did they make you ship it off? the best buy around here will just let you take it into them, and they'll replace it on the spot.

It could be the internal A/V components that could be broken, and more than likely is if you've used another cable with the same problem.

Yeah i think its internal too. Im seriousley thinking about cracking it open, and seeing if theres a loose wire or something, but then i think any warrenty i may have is lost....

really sucks CoD3 comes out the 7th...and i really want to play it online lol.

Tell me about it. COD3 is going to rock online. COD2 was good, very addicting. But COD3 is that and SO MUCH MORE!!!!! Can't wait to run unsuspecting people over in a jeep

But lets get back on subject here..... Has anyone fixed an E74 error with a new HDD?? To me, it sounds like M$ just want's to lead me on.

I dont think the consoles MS sends back are brand new, i think they're refurbished ones. But if Best Buy are replacing them theirselves then it could be a new one.
