How did you back it up? Did you use that option that says "Backup to image" and then made a complete copy of your original hard drive. And then did you plug in the new hard drive and select the option "Restore from image"? Cause if thats what you did then thats what messed it up. I found out while messing around with a couple of hard drives that if you do that it completely messes up that second hard drive. I dont know what happens but the 360 will not recognize it. If you plug it into the xport it recognizes it, but the 360 does not. If you want to transfer stuff from one hard drive to another then unfortunatly you have to do it file by file. I messed up two hard drives that way. And i still cannot find a way to fix them/re-format them or whatever.

i just replaced the 360 again and someone at eb games told me M$ has cds to reformat hds but they dont sell um and i dont know how to get a hold of 1

One of those would be usefull. Maybe it would fix those 2 hard drives that i tried messed up with that stupid option. They should tell you not to restor an image of one hard drive on another hard drive.

Just wondering can you put games on the drive as well? Like say I downloaded Test Drive unlimited could i send that game from my computer to the xbox?

*** Backing Up and Transfering 360 HDD Images ***

You cannot transfer one 360 HDD image to another HDD. This backup feature is only for backing up a single hard disks image for restoring to that disc only. This is because the HDD's have an encryption key that is unique to that HDD, so if you put the image on another 360 HDD it simply wont work.

The backup is full a sector by sector copy. The "security key" is copied too, but this key is linked to hard disk data that cannot be copied (e.g. the drives internal ID).

Backing up and transfering other images including 360 Memory Cards and XBox 1 memory cards is possible.

Also, anyone wanting to use the XPort 360 software can get it from the codejunkies website in the support section.

Pretty cool product. So you can transfer demos, videos, profiles, gamer pictures, themes and gamesaves all to your PCs HD? Even the stuff from live? No need for a bigger 360 hard drive now. Just transfer the movie when you want to watch it

EXACTLY! That is why i bought it when i first saw it. And also because i thought it would be very usefull when they finally do release a bigger hard drive because then i can just copy eveything to my computer then to the new hard drive. Instead of having to use a little 64MB memory card to transfer stuff back and fourth and having to keep switching hard drives.

Illegal Stuff??? So I guess Making copys of games and using mod chips is legal

hi all, does anyone know if you can transfer items purchased from xbox live marketplace to your computers hard drive with this tool to back it up? e.g. Cod map packs, Guitar Hero tracks and marketplace videos? thanks.
