I've had this problem for a couple of months now.  Most of the time, the drive would open normally.  But some of the times, the drive cannot open, it opens like a centimeter and stops.  It sounds like the gear or something is moving inside but it seems to be stuck.

The only way I got it to open is after it gets stuck, I quickly apply some force against the tray and it opens up.

Anyone know how I can fix this problem?

My friend had the same issue with his sammy.  There was a small stud of plastic on the underside of the tray that stuck out only a few thousandths more than the other plastic on the bottom.  Got a razor blade and shaved it down, worked perfectly from then on.

I'm a bit confused.  I ejected the tray, disconnectd the power to it so that it was still open.  I started shaving the first popout thing from underneath the tray (where the gear goes thru) but it still gets stuck
