Replacing My Sammy (ts) With This Hitachi I Have
« on: October 23, 2006, 03:36:00 PM »

Ive got a Hitachi I already modded from a dead 360 (overheating after i used the heat gun for the 0102 error) and my friend would like me to replace his Toshiba-Samsung with it since he cant figure out how to mod the sammy or he doesnt have the right sata chipset or something. Is there any walkthrough or guide for replacing dvd drives in the 360, specifically the firmware/software side of it?  I dont have any problem actually swapping the hardware, i just need to move over the dvd key and whatnot. Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.  SheriffDane

Just extract the key from the drives firmware.bin (or whatever) and then put that key in the other drive's firmware.bin.
You can use KDX 1.5 to extract the key from the firmwares.

There are programs used to extract the firmware (mtkflash for sammy, don't know about hitachi, never tried that one).

It should be a piece of cake really, there are plenty of guides here on xbox-scene for you to read up on in.

Thanks for the info, i will give it a go.  Im sure I'll have plenty of fun hooking the sammy up to extract the firmware.bin.  Neat!
