Toshiba-samsung Ts-h943 Problems
« on: October 03, 2006, 08:44:00 AM »

Well... Im reading about several TS-H943 giving the hell out of trouble for users recently.

Many topics embraces de subject, but none compiles a series of problems like mine.

Well, lets start:

TS-H943, Xtreme 3.1.

Backups giving lots of DDE, or locking very frequently during play. Originals dont lock up, but DDE remains.
Usual feedback: Try other disc brand, other burner.
My experience: Tried with Memorex, Verbs and Ridata/Ritek. Burned on Pioneer 111D and 109B, and LG 8269 something. Same problems, always. The interesting is that the backups, from time to time, alow me to play flawlessly for 10+ hours. But usualy dont reach the title screen, or lock/DDE during load times. Games that have severe Stream, such as TDU and Saints Row, tends to be unplayable.

Usual feedback: Drive overheating.
My experience: Home made mod, with 2 80mm ThermalTake fans taking out the hot air, and 3 40mm ThermalTake fans blowing air inside the console. GPU/CPU temp is 45~55/50~58 C.

Backups Open Tray error after a few hours of play, when changing discs.
Usual feedback: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Df5xjUOcLlI
My experience: I dont have this problem.

Backups and Originals Endless Reading error.
Usual feedback: Never read anything abou it.
My experience: Similar to the open tray error, but occurs on cold and hot boots. The system keeps the message Reading on screen, but the drive isnt reading anything at all. Completely silent. After something about 7 to 8 minutes, the message changes to "insert a valid disc".

Well, Im taking sugestions what to do next. POT adjustment? Laser unit replacement? Laser focus adjustment?

I'm not an expert, but it reminds me of old ps2 errors, maybe a dirty lens? Backup media won't make any difference if originals don't play well. I dunno how many people have tried blasting their lenses with compressed air, but it did wonders for my ps2 back in the day... and it still works now.

If you haven't tried that, I think maybe you should before you decide to swap out the dvd drive.
