Normal For 360 To Beep At Boot-up?
« on: October 01, 2006, 03:51:00 PM »

I have an XBox 360 that doesn't beep when you turn it on.  My friend has one that does.  Neither have red rings of death or any kind of freezing.  Is one acting abnormally, or are both fine and there are just some that do and some that don't?  Mine has a Hitachi drive and his has a Samsung, but the beep / chirp doesn't sound like it comes from the drive - it sounds more like a POST beep.

I've had two...neither has had what sounds like a "POST" beep.
I would consider that abnormal.

neither should beep.. do yourself a favor and have the beeping 360 connected to the other tv that does not beep. I'm sure it's a tv / speaker / unknown abnormality that will not be present once switched to other location.. if it still beeps 1-800-4myxbox

My xbox 360 beeps. It is my TS DVD drive, unless I have (and you) a new type of DVD drive or xbox version. I'm opening mine in 3 weeks so I can tell you if a new xbox 360 version has surfaced or a new DVD drive.

Certainly it is just Big Brother at work. That beep created a wave of sound that travels through your home, bounces off all pirated software, and uploads the results to Bill himself. I would employ the old Lex Luther Lead Case Mod, or go legit... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Either way there is no beep from the 360. It could be a drive spin up noise or a hdd noise but no actual beep

It's not the HD and it is not the mobo. It is the DVD drive coming to live. That is what it is.

I've re flashed tons of Sammy drives and I can attest to the "beeping" of certain few.  Its just the DVD Drive powering up.

Yes it is the sammy dvd drives initializing. I have heard many other samsung dvd drives do this (even other brands, like 605B's and 616T's, etc).

To me it sounds more like a quick buzz though, not really a beep
