I have swapped my release day console that had a hitachi drive, which was very loud, last week for a new premium. Now I have the toshiba drive, this is still as loud when spinning but now it has a high pitched sound when spinning too.

I thought the TS drived were quieter?

Do you think something is wrong?

If it is a problem I'll send it back to M$ for a new DVD drive. If not what DVD drive is supposed to be the best/quietest, keeping in mind I have no desire for the firmware hack.

Also it beeps at start up. I think I have a different version of the TS Drive but
I won't know until I open it up in 3 weeks.
