I've read through the forum's and cannot find my "exact" error so i thought i would give it a try here.
I have a 360 pro that i purchased on 5/7/2006 with the Toshiba/Samsung drive (per pictures i've found online, not confirmed via opening the console) i've not modded the console in any way. It currently lays horizontally in an entertainment center with PLENTY of ventlation. Also hooked up via HD Component cables running 720p (have tried both resolutions does not change issue)
About 4 month's ago i had the 360 on a table sitting vertically, because of limitations with the enviornment i had to string a cat5 down the hallway, and across the room, I had taped it down to the floor and it was fine in that configuration for a while. Well my nephew somehow got that caught on his shoe as he was running and caused the 360 to fall over about half way before it hit the side of the TV. It was on and i was out of the room at the moment, my nephew thinking he could fix the issue before i found out stood the 360 back up. Well i got several rings grinded into FNR3 then after i unpaused it got the "Disk Unreadable" blade. then promptly found out what had happened. So i put the console horizontally put in another game and it worked fine. needless to say FNR3 was toast.. (IMG:

Anyways, the last 2 games i bought (NCAA 07 and Madden 07) both allow me to play maybe 2 full games then randomly i'll get
"The disc is dirty, the disc is damaged and cannot be recognized, a hardware component is malfunctioning, or the disc is from a different region than the console."
Then i'm taken back to the M$ interface. Also those games are very "laggy" in offline mode, for instance the EA HD logo at the begining spin's halfway, stops waits 4-5 seconds then continues spinning. Moving through the menus is also very slow and when playing the mini games when it's loading each mini game i'll get this strange brief noise that i cannot tell if it's coming from the TV or the console (i'll need to investigate that further).
This morning i powered on the box and got E-74, with the "4" LED flashing red. I power cycled the box and every thing has been okay.
I went up to Gamestop cause i had heard some people have been able to buy the extended warrenty well after the original purchase date but was denied. But while i was there a Microsoft rep was performing maintence on the 360 display unit and I told her about my issue she said it sounds like the drive and if i call soon they may be able to work "something" out as far as repair/cost. Then she told me to call the 800 number.
Ive blown out the drive with can of compressed air, ran a DVD lens clean on the drive. It will play DVD movies without issue.
But before i call i was wondering if anyone else is having these same issues as i and perhaps it's not hardware related.
Thanks in advance and sorry about the length of the post, just want to be as discriptive as possiable.
