But...what happened to homebrew scene where people made their own stuff for free or minimal cost.  All these so called modchips/adapters could be built for real cheap.

Recently in the news there has been much information about Team Xecuter acting as a moderator for the "scene-produced" code for a homebrew modchip that can be made/built for very cheap - under $10.

I am excited to continue to see great Xecuter products - their R&D is very impressive.

yoo this is great news I just bought a 360 today and now I won't have to open the case. this is awesome news, executer always delivers. This should be a good smack in the face for all those executer haters, b*tc*ing about how much they hate the team, not considering what they did for the original Xbox. I can't wait to see the final product and a good price point at launch.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

And just what makes you think you don't have to open the case?  Obviously you have to install it inside the case.

You have to open it to fit it, then you wont have to open it again for updates...

You are going to have to open it the first time to fit it to the drive...

I am trying to get it. But you still have to void your warranty to install this adapter right?

I dont want to sound like an ignoramious but the news post is not very clear.

All this stuff is cool to me because it makes things easier.

its alive and well

we started  homebrew modchip project (XHm Project) at the xecuter forums -lots of input and a few versions out already - does as much as the other mods for about $5

i was gonna order a sata extension today so i could run the cable outside of the 360 and make it easier to flash. but ill just hold on now and wait for this.

should be cool!

here's how i see it:

(IMG:http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/1461/xecuterek6.jpg)

im guessing you'll connect the sata cable from the xbox 360 mobo to 1 and then, a loop back from 2 to the DVD drive, and 3 you'll run a sata cable to your PC.

and the switch, will be for switching between 360 DVD and PC.

at a guess...

How do you flip the switches if this thing is going inside the case?

Do we know for sure it is?

And, as the image theyve supplied 'isn't final' how do we know the switch wont be external?

I'm quite sure the switch on the final version will be external (otherwise you'd still have to open the case, eh (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )

Anyway, kudos to Team Xecuter, this is the first HW product out there for the DVD drive that I really love and is worth your money, unlike the current mod chips and all other stuff out there  (what's the use of a modchip that you even can't flash with new software ? One simple change by MS and you will have to buy a new chip (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
