Let me first say, I LOVE Xecuter (Love the connectivty kit, evryone who wants to mod their Hitachi drive, I stronly suggest getting it, it makes life so much easier). I only buy mod chips from Xecuter, and their Xbox1 products are awesome. I just don't how this product is really useful.

I know it is possible to recover the Samsung from a bad flash drive with MtkFLash. However for the Hitachi drives, as far as I know there is no way to recover a bad flash unless you use the following steps:

1.DVD drive is taken apart.
2.Flash chip, SST39SF020A TSOP is removed from the PCB.
3.Any excess solder taken off and cleaned.
4.Read in a Flash Reader/Programmer.
5.Chip Erased and Re-prgrammed with original firmware
6.Chip refitted.
7.DVD drive rebuilt.

Which this process is a little beyond my soldering skills  sad.gif . Of course I can pay someone to do this for me (i.e. this website will do it for you, http://www.swaytech....products_id=70), but that would cost over a $100, plus shipping. My Sata chipset already supports flashing, and I have been able to successfully flash my drives without any problems. But for some unknown reason, 2 of the Hitachi drives I flashed were not successful. (This would leave me with a 7 out of 9 success rate). Which considering it cost about a $100+ to pay someone to recover the drive, it can be expensive. In addition, if this device works just the same as my built in chipset (with the same success rate), then what is my incentive to buy this product? I also was reading the forms and saw that there is more then 1 device like this one, that are already out in the market that will flash the Xbox360 DVD drive (i.e. http://www.the-gadge..._sata_ide_cable, or http://www.newegg.co...82E16812156014), and cost less! I would like to be able to recover the bad flash myself, or have a process in which I can prevent a bad flash from occurring.

In the article it says you can use this device to stay up to date with the latest DVD firmware updates (which will require you to constantly put your drive a risk for a bad flash). Just to play devils advocate, if every time I update my drive, I will have 33% change that the drive will become bricked (which would cost me). If those odds don't improve with this device, and there are other products the work just the same as this one & cost less..then what makes this product better then everyone else's?  Or Why should anybody buy this product if they can get the same thing with the same quality some where else, for a cheaper price? uhh.gif

P.S. What I would like to see is a DVD drive mod chip that has a TSOP recovery mode, or a mode chip that can be programmed via USB without being attached to the drive.

bro - you are way way off on a tangent here - talking about absolutley nothing to do with this product

If you think someone can get this product (dont forget this is SPECIFICALY designed for the 360) bundled with the new v2 connect kit ($24.95 value) for cheaper - then good luck.

Also just becuase its of no use to you doesnt mean its not of no use to 100,000 other people. The current modchips are useless imho but they are selling like hotcakes.

Also ive flashed hundreds of Hitachis in testing - never had one bad flash and that is 100% honest - the flash process is very fast >10 seconds. However you only have to flsh once - flshing multiple times is for those who want to have the latest fw - if it works for you dont need to reflash - we're simply trying to make it a more painless process thats all wink.gif

i appreciate your input to the thread tho - its nice to talk to decent hobbiests who dont act like complete and total wankers like in the other thread.

I LMFAO at this line "what has TX done, honestly" Read this page fool - http://www.team-xecu...ead.php?t=42434

Youve just made yourself look a real tool lol !
Original hacks - were you ever even around for the last 5 years ??? - ALL xbox mods were made on the back of our work - we were the original hackesr you idiot lol - weve been designing kernels for the xbox since your were at high school (you probably still are)

and you suggest our mods cost $1 to make ? lol

my friend you are a total dipshit - your posts have suddenly become amusing. I'll leave it now so everyone who has a clue about the scene we helped build laugh at you.

And they would have reached any of the goals without the original "homebrew scene" hackers. Exactally.

Fuck you. Fuck TX.
Because regardless of what they have done before, they haven't been anything more than using other people's work to make money. If they really "cared" about the scene, it wouldn't be all about the money......

People that sit here and argue about the fact that you can get a USB converter etc. for way cheap need to realize, a lot of other people, like me, have a samsung drive and maybe don't want to hassle with the whole mess and want a simple solution. For me, the $45 or whatever will be way worth it, just for the conveniece and the fact that TX has always been well respected and has always provided great innovative products at a reasonable cost imo. wink.gif

Does this device work with Samsung drives though? If it does Ill buy one for sure.

So you want them to give free products to everyone, you must be a fucking moron it takes money to make these products so in turn they sell them to get back money from investment and plus make a bit of profit to fund other projects.  Learn some simple economics and laws of business.  Fucking Twat.

yeah but why waste $45 , when you can find a product that does the same thing plus comes with extras for $20

if you dont see the logic then you need to go back to school and take mathematics all over again.

You could argue over why do people pay overprice prices for things like Trainers or Coca Cola over some crap Cola, ultimitely your buying it for the NAME and REP.  It kinda seems right to support tho's who are  providing for the scene.

At the end of the game, its down to individuals to decide whether or not to put there hands into their pockets.

You could argue again that it doesn't need to cost ya a thing to hack your 360, but TX are simply releasing products which there is a demand for?  Fair play in my book.

Hi,
First post so please be gentle..

I just got the x360 usb kit and came bundled with the conectivity kit too..

Im about to flash my hitachi 47d and need to get my facts right,
I was looking for a tutorial or something to confirm how I hook all this kit up to my ODD in the right way and to my PC.

I have to use the conectivity kit to power the 360 DVD and get it into modeB and use the the USB adaptor to plug into my PC's usb instead of the sata port.... Yea?

If thats right will the drive just appear in wndows as it would if you were connected through the mobo's sata?

Also once set up and connected do I just use the FW im going to flash with in the same manner?

Thanks , if my questions have been answered im sorry and would appreciate a link, Im quite new to 360 modding and have managed a samsung with mtkflash and bought this kit for my bots hitachi and want to get it right.

Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

Got my x360 usb yesterday, been waiting for it to attempt my first firmware upgrade.
I couldnt find a tutorial specifically for this product so i used all existing hitachi tutorials i could find and a bit of common sense.

After removing the hitachi drive and connecting it to my x360usb (i had to power the connectivity kit with a spare power connector in my pc as i couldnt find any other way), the connectivity kit led's were red and the pc detected the hitachi drive straight away.

I then ran the birdy auto flasher program which automatically backed up my original firmware and selected the correct firmware to flash for me, it literally took seconds!

i then used dvdinfopro to set my lite-on dvd writer's book setting to dvd-rom, burned a game image with clone cd using ri-disc 2.4 speed dvd+r DL at 2.4 speed and an hour later.......

IT ALL WORKED!!

I was very concerned about bricking, correct media, correct dvd writer, correct software but after investing time to research it all i had no problems.

The x360 USB rocks for hitachi users and the birdy auto flasher is an awesome program, it saved me a lot of grief!

What version of the Hitachi drive did you have ? Are there any models out there at the moment that cannot be flashed with the already available software ? Thing is I dont want to open up my recently purchased 360 to find out I cant flash my drive. Waste of a warranty.

I didn't realize Bunnie was on Team Xecuter.  He hacked the RC4 1.0.

I had the version 46, i remember the birdy flasher had firmware for 46 and 47 (i dont think there are any other hitachi / lg versions?)

I think the only way to find out exactly which hitachi you have is to actually look at the label on the disk drive.
