The other day, I dropped my 360 (I was unloading the car and dropped the bag it was contained in) and now, when I turn the 360 on, no lights whatsoever on the ring of light come on, not even the power indicator. Also, I cannot connect to the console with the wireless controllers. I can however turn it on and use the media remote though.
I even tried to get the ring of light to come on by creating errors....nothing. I tried the 'learn' function or whatever for the wireless controllers and nothing whatsoever on the ring of light will come on. I also checked and made sure that the power was plugged in properly and all the way.
Now, I'm thinking that I just need a new ring of light/RF PCB... however, would that make sense if the RF media remote still works? Or is it possible that only part of the board broke?
Now, I have no problem opening up the 360 and am technically inclined to do so (A+ certified actually). And I can get the ring of light/RF PCB off ebay for $25 and replace it myself. However, if I open it up and break the seal, MS will not even touch it even though it's an out of warranty repair for $130 (actually, more like $180 with shipping from alaska). So I'm worried that what if I open it up and it turns out that it's something more severe than the ROL/RF PCB that will cost more than the $180??? Or, if soldering needs to be done, I will not do it...I have always been horrible at soldering, especially on something like this...
So, I guess my main questions are:
Do I need a new ROL/RF PCB?
How is the ROL/RF PCB connected?
Should I open it up and risk a $180+ repair cost?
Thank you very much in advance!
O btw, it fell bottom first (opposite end of hdd)
