Seems doubtful that Dead Rising killed your 360... seems more like a timing issue to me... just bad luck.

At this point in time, CattyKid is accurate.  The games are not killing consoles.  I have spoken with M$ regarding the issue.  They have not officially or unofficially acknowleged any problems.

[Flashback]
When GRAW was released, it WAS killing some consoles.  When I called, M$ told me up-font that this was happening.  They were aware, and were working on a fix.  Consoles affected were replaced by calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX.  I posted in the forum accordingly.[/Flashback]

I don't come on here and post things I just think.  I research first.  Granted, things may change at any time, and M$ could acknowledge some issue.  But as of this minute, they cite no problem, at least to the people I have called.

If you call M$ and they tell you there is a problem related to a game, post what the problem was and the service rep with whom you spoke.

Yeah, what COSMO said.  Games are not killing consoles: the consoles were already defective, and that particular game happened to be played when it died.

well like to say thx for the quick advice.
i have phoned m$ about this and apparently i had downloaded a currupt demo !!   this is tru could happen    as dead rising demo is just over 1GB  i dident download this in one go but over sevral days  so yea could be a problem there,   what he never told me wass how a curropt demo could wipe out the xbox like that even he wazz amazed that there is no error msg on the screen or red ring of light  he wass clueless  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jester.gif) oh well they are gonna replace it in 12 days just a matter of wait now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  gonna keep my hhd,

hdd Q:  i have downloaded loads of stuff to it would this work if i plugged it in to a nother xbox 360 herd sumwere that it wouldent coz the content only work on that xbox by locking it sum how

as i am good with computers it seems like the xbox bios is wiped out there for there is no boot  to the OS (xbox dash )   never experenced a operating system kill the bios on a pc before  which leads me to a conclusion that the game must have a link to the bios sum how   like a pc softwere would  like flash   maby the game wass chking the bios ver or sumthing when it crashed coz i here for that game you need a xb update !!!!

enywayz thx for the advice

When I loaded the game in for the first time it DID update the software on my XBox360. If it was missing a few chunks here and there, I don't know why MS wouldn't institute a MD5 check to make sure the new software is complete. Only thing I can think of is that MS didn't, and the dashboard software update was corrupted.

My XBOX died soon after getting the Dead Rising Demo.  It started locking up after I played a few times, then other demos started locking up.  I went to download the Project Gotham Demo (because I just got a wireless adapter and want to make sure it was working).  Half the way through the download it locked up.  When I rebooted I went to delete the incomplete file.  After I did that, it corrupted my gamer profile.  So, I had to redownload my profile.  Everthing seemed okay after that until the next day, when Dead Rising came out.

I brought Dead Rising home, thew it in, it played for 5 mins and then it locked up.  When I turned it back on, I got the red lights/102 error.  It seems unlikely that Dead Rising killed it, and if it did, it was going to die eventually anyway because of manufactuing error.  But, I do find it weird that the system lasted 8months with zero problem until the Dead Rising demo came out.  And it was weird that it died on the retail Dead Rising.

If there is something going on here it will be interesting to hear feedback from others.  I already dealt with the MLB software debacle, could this be an even more serious problem?

Dead Rising killed your 360?

My suggestion is that you smash it into tiny pieces before it joins the ranks of the undead.

(Please don't do that. It's a JOKE)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

LMAO  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jester.gif)   I was so pissed when my XBOX died and MS had the balls to stick me for $130 for their piss poor manufacturing.  But, since then, all I've been able to do laugh.  I practically had to jump start my 360 for the few days I waited for my cardboard coffin to arrive.  All while my once loving XBOX gave me the evil red-eye.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

If I didn't laugh, I'd probably break something expensive that belonged to someone else (IMG:style_emoticons/default/muhaha.gif)

Little interesting tidbit here.

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/dead-rising/

I'm starting to wonder if there is any truth to the idea that games that push the system could fry it.  Spooky to say the least (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

When I get mine back I buying the 2 yr warranty (which will now, luckly, be available to me again).  I'm not taking any chances until we know for sure why seeminly good 360s ar dying suddenly after 8 months or more.

Report back when M$ confirms a problem.
Until then, closed.
