12v Alternate Source
« on: August 18, 2006, 09:43:00 AM »

I was reading what xboxexpert had said about using the 12v from the dvd drive. I took it into thought. someone had also mentioned about soldering it into the bottom of the psu on the mobo i am just wondering where this is and if someone can get me a LARGE picture of it and label where i can solder my stuff (fans, leds, etc)

and can i just solder as many things as i want to it w/ out the risk of breaking anything?

Use J7G1, It was design for AUX power. It even has a spot for current limit resistor and a capacitor.

Download the header & connector document to find out more.

That is the bottom of the power plug right there.

12v is yellow
black is ground

All three yellows are the same poll's so if you cant solder any more to one pad move onto the next one.

Enjoy.
