360 Hard Drive $14.99 New
« on: August 06, 2006, 10:04:00 AM »

I know it has to be a screwup, but Sears is advertising on their latest Sunday ad insert the 360 HDD for only $14.99.

I'm sure if you wanted to, you could take it in and require them sell it to you for the advertised price.

Where are you located? In which paper was the insert?

Sorry, I figured it was Sears in general in the U.S.

I'm in Memphis, Tn.  Commercial Appeal's Sunday paper has their flyer.

Here's the flyer.

HDD is in the top right of the ad, below headset.

*UPDATE- Apparently Sears nationwide is posting signs saying the ad is a misprint and they will not honor the price.

Someone on another forum is taking the ad to Walmarts and they are price matching.  Not that that's fair to anyone.

My guess is that the graphic designer who made that ad just got himself fired.  He put the faceplate price on the hard drive, AND the faceplates are upside-down.  Idiot.

the sad thing is that guy probably has a graphic arts degree of some sort. putting the price on the wrong thing i can almost understand (an editor/reviewer or someone down the line should have picked that up), but putting the faceplates upside down? can you not SEE that fire doesn't burn down? like you said, guy's an idiot.

Really all you need in NY state is a copy of the Sears page. By law they have to give it to you at the advertised price otherwise its flase advertising and they can be sued for that.

BTW: I just printed off the sears add and a copy of the NY state flase advertising & wal mart price match policy. I am pretty sure that when the cashier sees I mean buissness they will give it to me at a matched prirce.

Off to wal mart. Ill post back in a little while.

Sorry, you cant edit posts.

But, I got there and it looked like someone droped a grenade in the accories case at walmart. All of the controller and memoery card boxes where scattered and the sticker for the harddrive was there.

The reason I mentionm the sticker being there is becuase when I asked teh guy if they had any more HDDs in stock he told me they dont even carry them. I then continued to laugh and he got pissed at me ad said "you people cant just pay full price can you. You have to try an exploit everyones mistakes."

I dont know what he ment bu "you people" and hy he got mad. He must of had to deal with a lot of "us people" today smile.gif

I went to walmart to have them picematch, and they called sears and sears told them "its a misprint, and we have posted retractions on our stores, and not honoring that price". So I got screwed and walmart would not price match.

I live in minnesota, and i dont belive that they have the strick laws on false advertising, but im not sure.

Should i goto sears and bitch until they get sick of it and give it to me at that price?

Any comments on how to get on, cuz i have a core, and its almost worthless without a HD

Old news.

No one will match it... they know it's a misprint.
It's been tried nationwide and no one that I know of has had success.
