What To Do?
« on: July 29, 2006, 09:13:00 PM »

my 360 died and im really sad. i was really stupid and did not get the extended warrenty, as my original warrenty ended june 20th

well i called MS and they said its goin to be 130 to repair. does anybody know of a extended warrenty loophole where i can buy a extended warrenty, then a couple of days later send it in for repairs.

Also i did some research and found out that theres a simple fix for the problem i am havin by adding some thermal paste to the GPU and CPU and a couple of other key spots. This method would cost 10 dollars. If i so choose to use this method does this forbid me to send in my x360 for repairs should this method not work.

im up hits creek witout a paddle and need a lil advice. i know some of you will call me cheap and tell me to shell the 130 out, but 130 is a lot of money. im a student and i already spent 1000+ on my xbox with games and accesories and so on. i also think i sohouldnt have to spend 130 on a piece of machinary that is defective and they should gracefully fix.

You have to purchase the extended warranty while its under the standard warranty.

yea sure ill give you more info.... what would u like to know...  it was a 0102 error, it use to play games and freeze but know it just doesnt boot up at all nemore.

i also wrote this in a ign forum...

"Ok as we all know the 360 has been experiencing problems, from overheating, to freezing or whatever you may have been experiencing. Personally, my 360 just doesnt even boot anymore. I tried everything to get my system in tip-top shape again. i called and called and called MS only to have a insuficient waranty not cover my 360 because i bought it 4 motnsh ago. it will cost me 130 dollars to fix now which is ludacris because i have spent well over 1000 on the system, games, and accesories already. I did some research and came across this site...

http://www.petitiononline.com/xbox360w/petition.html

It is a online petition which will extended the limited waranty to 1 year should MS have a heart. I am not sayin this will work but it is worth a shot. Thanks for the help guys and i hope you sign it and i also hope your 360 doesnt go the way that mine has gone."

im gonna post that in the general forums but i hope you guys check it out and sign it

ok guys ill be beack on later on tonite, since i dont have a 360 anymore im forced into havin a social life. thanks for the help

Yeah dude, its probably that foil on the GPU, if you get some artic silver 5 from newegg.com that usually helps a boat load on transferring the heat to the heatsink, but if its straight up not booting from the push of the power button, then there might be more of a serious problem.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif) let us know more information, so we can get you gaming again!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
